Enriching the lives of children through dance!
Melissa Quigley Dye’s passion and love for dance and teaching stems from her extensive background and experience. Melissa began dancing at the age of seven and continued to cultivate her talents throughout Junior High and High School. After High School, she attended Cal State Fullerton where she studied modern dance, ballet, jazz, and gymnastics. While in college, she performed at Disneyland as various characters and worked as a choreographer for Diamond Bar High School, leading several show choirs to award winning competitions. Melissa graduated with honors and received a Bachelor of Arts in Radio, T.V. and Film with a Minor in Dance. Along with her degree, she also obtained a Child Development Permit and became a fully qualified pre-school teacher. After college, she taught group and private lessons in several local dance studios and worked with competition teams, winning numerous awards. Melissa started working for WEBBY Dance Company as an Instructor in 2003 and fell in love with her career and the company. She continued her growth with WEBBY and now currently owns and operates three territories of her own throughout Southern California. Melissa is a passionate and caring business owner as well as a loving and dedicated mother of two tiny dancers who are dancing right along in her footsteps. She continues to share her gift of dance with not only her two little girls but her WEBBY students as well!
History
Helen Palma, the founder of WEBBY Dance Company®, opened her first dance studio in 1976, in Lakewood, California. A studio parent asked Helen if she would teach dance at her child’s preschool and she hesitantly accepted the offer. Helen recognized the convenience of this type of “mobile” program when she had 8 children immediately sign up for her first class. The children benefited from the enriching program at their childcare center, while school directors and parents appreciated the convenience of conducting classes on site. Hence, the idea of a mobile dance company was born.
The classes were an instant hit! Hundreds of children began enrolling and enjoying the action-packed classes. Parents as well as childcare providers praised Helen for her innovative program. Her winning philosophy was simple: “Have children experience the joys of self expression through fun and love in a nurturing environment.”
In 1990, Helen began expanding her creative dance program in Ohio, with the launch of WEBBY Dance Company®. Helen’s daughter, Becky Weber, continued developing the program in California and expanded the company with enormous growth on the west coast.
Ownership of WEBBY Dance Company® has been passed on to Becky Weber, who is now the President of this rapidly expanding corporation. This nationally recognized company currently has thousands of children, in hundreds of schools, across the United States with the reputation of “The BEST in mobile dance!”
